Lamp Stands ( Katagami & Kirameki )

1. Create a shade of relaxation, healing, refreshing and beauty

Akari’s artistic lamp stands are designed and crafted to create an interior shade to have residents and guests feel relaxed, healed, refreshed and eternal beauty. Akari is proposing its hand-crafted lamps to spas, esthetic and nail salons, resort hotels and restaurants that treat people’s feeling and minds so carefully.
They are also proposed as residential interior in bed rooms and bath rooms.

2. The shades pass the spirit of Japanese culture and tradition

Amaterasu Ohmikami, the Sun Goddess and the genesis of the emperor’s family is also the symbol of “eternal beauty”. Amaterasu is enshrined in the Ise Shrine. Near the shrine, there is a town called Suzuka where Ise-katagami (paper stencil) craft work began more than 1,000 years ago. These paper stencils were designed and created by traditional craftsmen for dying colorful designs of kimono. The craftsmanship has been succeeded generation by generation and Ise-katagami is being crafted by specifically qualified traditional craftsmen even now. Mr. Isao Uchida is one of them and he provides his Ise-katagami for Akari’s lamp shades. There have been tens of thousands of designs accumulated from its inception, but, according to some statistical study, a great majority of the designs represents “natures” like flowers, plants, trees, natural phenomenon, landscapes and so forth, where Japanese people have historically believed that myriad of gods individually reside to make the natures live just the way they are.
Akari’s lamp stands project through the Ise-katagami’s silhouette the spirits of individual natures that myriad of gods give life. The core theme of Ise-katagami, therefore, is co-existence with natures and it is inspiring people’s minds with relaxation, healing, refresh and eternal beauty.

3. Eco-friendly LED light with a “yuragi” software to reproduce the transience of life

Akari’s light source is LED. It correctly represents Japanese sense of co-existence with natures in terms of not only low energy consumption but also its longevity.
Besides, LED emits ray straight like laser and therefore it is able to project the shades through Ise-katagami for clear-cut and sharp images.
Akari’s LED is controlled by its invented unique software for “yuragi”, which is randomly changing the strength of illumination just like candle lights’ flame never stay.
Its breathing like continuous change of lighting strength coupled with the spiritual shades inspires residents and guests with free and liberated transitions of minds, leading to relaxation, healing, refresh and interest in eternal beauty. The traditional value of Ise-katagami meets the modern technology of LED and yuragi software for the common purpose to best treat people’s minds for relaxation, healing, refresh and appreciation of eternal beauty.

Table Lamps ( Mizubashow )

1. Bring relaxation, healing, refreshing and beauty to your table

Just like the French Baccarat and Galle, and Austrian Swarovski, Japan is proud of its cut glass art called EDO-KIRIKO. Japan’s cut-glass art began in 1834 in Edo, which was renamed as Tokyo in 1868 when Meiji Emperor moved his residence from Kyoto to Tokyo designating the city as nation’s capital.
Although this art is much more modern than Akari’s lamp stands with Ise-katagami’s lamp shades, there are common concept of relaxation, healing, refreshing and beauty that the table lamps will bring to their tables.
